Making Sense of SMSC teacher training options

Young Citizens is able to offer you a range of training options to develop your staff’s understanding of SMSC in your setting. Suitable for all educators across the age ranges, we offer face-to-face and virtual training options.

1) Face-to-face training: Led by one of our team of experienced SMSC Quality Mark verifiers, we can deliver anything from a 45-minute staff meeting session to a half-day course exploring:

  • what SMSC is and why it’s important;
  • what value inspection frameworks place on SMSC;
  • how SMSC connects with the rest of the curriculum (including British values) and how it adds value to it.

Prices range from £135 to £350 (not including travel). Delegates attending the twilight or half-day session will receive CPD certification on successful completion of the course.

2) Virtual training: We can also deliver the above training using Zoom (or your preferred school platform), to remove the costs of the trainer's travel.

To discuss your face-to-face or virtual training requirements please contact us.

“It was very informative and gives you an in depth insight into the importance of implementing SMSC in school and ways to do it successfully.”

3) Online training: For only £19 per person, we also offer you the option of online training which can be completed at time, place and pace to suit you. Successful delegates will receive 3 hours CPD certification. By the end of the course you will have:

  • Explored what SMSC is and why it’s important;
  • Considered how SMSC can be embedded throughout your school;
  • Look at how SMSC can support fundamental British values, character education and help to build cultural capital;
  • Gained an understanding what Ofsted says about SMSC and the value the new framework places on this;
  • Looked at practical ways you can support your school to develop and maintain outstanding SMSC provision.
