The Big Legal Lesson is a free resource for English and Welsh schools to use during Justice Week, 24th-28th February 2020

This classroom resource has been sponsored by international law firm Allen & Overy LLP, who provide legal services to global businesses and industry. Their support has enabled these specialist resources to be distributed to schools for free.

What is The Big Legal Lesson?

The Big Legal Lesson will be take place during Justice Week (24th – 28th February 2020).

At Young Citizens we firmly believe that every young person should have the opportunity to learn about the legal justice system and the rule of law at school. The law is a vital part of our democratic society, and understanding the law is therefore essential in being an active, engaged citizen.

We are asking teachers to pledge to deliver a legal lesson to as many students in their school as possible during the course of the week.

We will provide each school who pledges with access to a high-quality ‘Introduction to the Law’ legal lesson – with different versions for key stages 1-4. The lesson can be taught in one go, or can be broken down into smaller segments and delivered throughout the week.
