We're hugely grateful to the 2,000 people who already volunteer their time, skills and energy to Young Citizens each year. Without them, we couldn't change the lives of young people through our work.

But we urgently need more volunteers if we are to address the chronic shortage of quality citizenship education and ensure our vision becomes a reality.

Can your business help?

We are actively seeking people with different skills to help with our employee volunteering brokerage into schools. Professions include:

  • Legal professionals
  • Finance experts
  • People with expertise in government or politics
  • Journalists or others involved in the media

If you are from a business in one of these sectors, why not consider becoming a partner in our Experts in Schools programmes to address your Corporate Social Responsibility commitments? As well as helping young people gain knowledge and skills, you'll also be providing rewarding volunteer opportunities for your staff team.

Legal professional?

Annually, we run 70 Mock Trial events all around the country. We bring local schoolchildren into courtrooms to provide a unique insight into the judicial system. As a small staff team, we rely heavily on the legal profession to help coordinate the events and service the heats at a local, regional and national level.

Prefer to go into the classroom?

No problem. We have recently launched a matching service and we would love to add you to our national database of volunteers willing to be partnered with a local school. Add your legal knowledge to our pre-prepared session materials on a range of legal topics. Volunteer when it suits you and support young people's public legal education in your community.

“It has been a pleasure to be part of the Mock Trial Competition. As a practising barrister with over 30 years' experience, I have found the mentoring process to be wonderfully refreshing and truly uplifting – it is one of the absolute must-do extra-curricular activities for young and old alike.”
