Emily Cheffins

Emily is an education specialist with over 20 years’ experience in citizenship education, project-based learning and educational assessment. She is passionate about equipping young people with the knowledge, skills and confidence to become active, informed citizens.

Emily holds an LLB Law and an LLM in International Human Rights Law from the University of Essex, and a Postgraduate Advanced Certificate in Educational Assessment from the University of Cambridge. She has taught Law, Citizenship and the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), held senior leadership roles in further education, and works with teachers in the UK and internationally to develop qualifications, project-based learning programmes and professional development.

A strong advocate for learning beyond the classroom, Emily champions opportunities that enable young people to apply their learning in authentic contexts, including initiatives such as the Bar Mock Trial.

As a trustee of Young Citizens, she is committed to advancing high-quality citizenship education and meaningful opportunities for all young people.
