Stella Baynes

Stella joined Young Citizens in 2018, initially delivering our Democracy Ambassadors project in partnership with the Cabinet Office, a programme which supported young people aged 13 – 16 to talk to their peers about the importance of, and their role within, our democracy. Since 2019, however, she has been leading our social action resources for schools and youth organisations – namely our flagship programme the Make a Difference Challenge. Prior to Young Citizens, and after a brief spell as a secondary school teacher,  Stella spent fifteen years developing face to face training and community projects for youth organisations including UK Youth and the British Red Cross. Stella is passionate about helping young people develop and recognise their personal and social skills, with a view to creating empathetic and tolerant communities who recognise individual strengths that might not fit a traditionally ‘academic’ mould.
