Volunteer

Become a Young Citizens volunteer

With the commitment of our volunteers, we’re able to ensure quality citizenship education is accessible to children and young people across the UK.

Why volunteer?

With your help, we can change the lives of young people across the UK. Young Citizens reach over one million children and young people every year. We operate at the intersection of politics, the law, social action and the media, and the work our volunteers do has never been more influential.

We want a diverse community of volunteers who can join us in our mission to ensure every child and young person has access to vital citizenship education across the UK. With your help, we can ensure our work is far-reaching, impactful and inclusive.

Interested in the law?

Annually, we run 70 Mock Trial events all around the UK. We bring local school children into courtrooms to provide a unique insight into the judicial system.

We are looking for volunteers who have a passion for teaching young people about the UK judicial system; our Mock Trial Volunteers come from a range of professions, including judges, barristers, magistrates, legal trainees, students and teachers.

To sign up as a volunteer for our Mock Trial Competitions, please send an email to Smartlaw@youngcitizens.org.

Other opportunities

We are currently in the process of reviewing our volunteer roles and will release our new and updated application process in due course. We hope to have some exciting new opportunities for students, teachers and skilled professionals coming in 2022. Keep your eyes peeled on our website for more information and updates!

In the meantime, if you have any volunteer-related queries, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Niamh at niamh.mawhinney@youngcitizens.org.
