Mock Trials

Mock Trials Celebration Event: Celebrating Resilience

Overview

From swapping the courtroom for Zoom to the other changes we have had to make along the way – we know this year has been different to how we normally do things. In planning this Celebration Event, we wanted to create a space where we could celebrate and highlight stories of how our teams and volunteers made the mock trials happen this year in various forms across the country.

The theme this year will be Celebrating Resilience and we have invited speakers from across the legal world to speak about their own stories of resilience and journeys into law. There will be an interactive legal quiz; a highlight reel filled with school and volunteer submissions; we will be announcing the winners of the Law and Me Competition at the event.

Our speakers include a whole spectrum of legal experience from a Mock Trials’ alumni, current law student and young magistrate; an aspiring barrister who is about to start their journey in the Bar and a QC who has worked in the in the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal.

The speakers for this year’s Celebration Event are:

  • Jack Felvus (Mock Trials Alumni, Law Student, Young Magistrate)
  • Michael Abiodun Olatokun (Research Leader at The Bingham Centre Rule of Law and Aspiring Human Rights Barrister)
  • Derek Sweeting QC (Chair of the Bar Council)
