Three New Trustees Join Young Citizens Board

Young Citizens is delighted to welcome three new Trustees to our Board, bringing outstanding experience and skills from the legal profession, the teaching profession and the world of digital marketing and communications.

The three new Trustees are:

Jacquie Ayre

With more than 30 years’ experience as a secondary school teacher in the North West of England, Jacquie has a deep belief in the need to support young people in developing a positive outlook to the communities they live in by harnessing their empathy, their passion and their curiosity about the world. She has taught an extensive range of subjects including Citizenship and PSHE, Geography, History, RE and Sociology. She brings to the board a wealth of practical experience of life in the classroom and especially the challenges and rewards of teaching Citizenship.

Matthew Lambert

Matt’s interest in citizenship education was sparked when he took part in the Bar Mock Trials Competition at school. Now with more than 10 years’ experience in marketing – working for some of the biggest names in the business including M&C Saatchi and the Engine Group – he wants to give something back to the charity which inspired him and the young people it serves. He is currently Business Development Director of leading digital marketing agency, TMW. He hopes to bring his considerable experience to bear for Young Citizens, helping steer the marketing and communications strategy.

Victoria Speed

A qualified employment law solicitor, Victoria is Director of Pro Bono and Corporate Social Responsibility at London’s BBP Law School. Her joint roles are geared to improving access education and to the justice system as well as motivating and enabling students to take up volunteering roles while studying. She also works closely with legal professionals to encourage partnership and volunteering activities. In the course of her career Victoria has often worked in partnership with Young Citizens and feels strongly that the charity’s mission and values closely match her own.

Martin Bostock, Chair of Trustees at Young Citizens, says: “We’re absolutely delighted to have been able to recruit three such talented and committed new Trustees. Between them Jacquie, Matt and Victoria bring a wealth of experience and passion, adding even greater strength to our Board.”
