Shahban Aziz

Trustee

Shahban is a Higher Education professional with a passion for equality, widening participation and social justice.

After graduating with a degree in Economics and Social Sciences from the University of Manchester, Shahban worked in the probate and banking sectors before completing his postgraduate legal qualifications with distinction at BPP Law School.

For the last ten years, Shahban has worked in a variety of senior roles in Higher Education, most recently as Deputy Director at Kaplan Open Learning and as Group Head of Student Experience at BPP Professional Education.  In these roles he gained experience of managing multi-million pound budgets and led on the strategy to ensure a world-class student experience for 80,000 students and learners annually.

Shahban has a strong background in quality assurance and regulation having been appointed as a Quality Assurance reviewer for the Quality Assurance Agency and a Teaching Excellence Framework Assessor the Office for Students.

As a student, Shahban was a Student Leader for leading grassroots global movement, ONE, which campaigns to end extreme poverty and preventable disease by 2030, working on international development projects such as the campaign to protect the commitment to international aid.

Shahban continues to regularly volunteer and provide employability workshops to youth groups and works closely on projects to enhance opportunities for disenfranchised communities.
