The perfect match

Young Citizens is looking to match legally trained individuals with local schools to build young people’s knowledge and understanding of the law.

For the past 20 years, we have been supplying schools with teaching resources, textbooks and access to courtrooms to help prepare young people for public life. As a consequence of our interventions beneficiaries know their rights and responsibilities; they are more able to identify a legal issue (and know how to deal with it); and, have developed their critical thinking and communication skills.

Each year we reach 250,000 young people, but we need to do more. We want to reach every corner of the country with our public legal education (PLE) resources and we need your help to make this ambition a reality.

It was great seeing the young people engage with the session; they were so interested and asked questions that showed they were thinking about what was being taught” Louise Asquith, volunteer lawyer

How you can help...

To be able to make a step-change in reach we are looking for volunteers to register their commitment to run a session with a group of young people on a topic of your choice, in a secondary school in your local area. There are 15 different legal topics to choose from including: Social Media, Human Rights, Consumer and Employment law.

In return for your commitment, volunteers will receive:

  • Access to our database to find interested schools near you
  • Quality-assured materials to run engaging sessions
  • Online training and support to prepare you for working with young people in a classroom environment

To register interest in this project you will need to complete the registration form below. Get involved - make a difference in your community!
